The Weekly CEO Decision Memo
A lightweight template for turning meetings into explicit operating choices.
A useful CEO memo records the decisions that were actually made, the tradeoffs accepted, and the questions that still need owners. This template is designed to reduce the fog that accumulates after recurring leadership meetings.
Each section should force a choice: what changed this week, what stays true, and what needs intervention before the next operating review. When the memo works, leaders stop debating what was said and start aligning around what happens next.
The memo becomes especially valuable when the company is moving across multiple fronts at once. It creates a written chain of reasoning that helps teams revisit why a decision was made before they default to reactive changes.
